Ubsisoft has lined up a lot of platforms for "Ghost Recon: Future Soldier" since the title was trademarked and subsequently announced. The 2010 holiday season launch they hoped to achieve doesn't look like it's going to happen after all, though, thanks to word straight from the top today.
"Due to a very competitive environment, we decided to move the game out of the Christmas quarter, and into the March quarter," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said during an investor briefing, according to Joystiq. "It will also provide additional time to our development teams to realize their vision."
It's difficult to tell which competition has Guillemot worried, but "Halo: Reach" and "Call of Duty: Black Ops" will both want a piece of the market in 2010, so they're good targets to start pointing fingers at. Furthermore, with Project Natal, the PlayStation Move and perhaps a Nintendo 3DS all showing up for the end-of-the-year retail rush, a lot of eyeballs are going to be focused on new technologies and the games that support them.
As long as the "Future Soldier" release doesn't suffer the same tumble that "Splinter Cell: Conviction" did, I'm everyone will be patient and understanding.
